Thakhek Looping: D2

Day two started where day one left off. We went to three guesthouse’s before finding one with some sleeping options for 9. with a big group it made it a little harder to navigate. But trips are better with friends so we searched on eventually finding a nice little family place down the road.

We had a late start because one bottle of fun turned into another then another. Good times roll like that. After one night, we had a bunch of strangers turn into a group of world friends.

We were all over the place as a group but that makes it more unique. No clean lines, only zig-zags. The day was filled with unbelievable views of a land I knew not. Karst towers of limestone loomed on a flat valley. Old farmlands nestled between the mountains make for the most tranquil scenery.

In this place is flood plains and high mountains. I didn’t even notice we were up a plateau before coming up to a road edge seeing far down below. This place has so much dynamic.

Starting to get the hang of the place, we began moving faster trying to beat the light. That was until the roads got a little trickier and a little water and mud can make things dangerous. We had another spill, but nothing major. All a part of the road. Lots of driving. Our next guest house we reserved. Good food. Quick laughs. Off to bed…for most of us.
