Chamonix, France 🇫🇷
After spending two weeks in Switzerland and the Alps, I knew I had one more outing left on my list before leaving the marvelous snowcapped wonders. I really had this idea of hitting some old skate spots in Lyon so Chamonix would be on the way. The linking of Europe by trains is a little like poetry. Some are off the beaten path and the views can be incredible and delightful.
I arrived in Chamonix in the middle of offseason. Known for its wintry highlights, I only wanted to hike around one good mountain before being on my way. My heart was quite full of stunning mountain views in Lauterbrunnen, but I was more than surprised to see how magnificent the view was from the top of Le Lac Blanc. Overlooking the French Alps with a majestic (and somewhat intimidating) storm brewing overhead. It was quite the cherry I had wished on top.
My time here was short and quaint, but I remember almost every moment of it. I think those are the best kinds of stories: no need for crazy highlights or intense stories. Just a couple new friends, some nice views, and a little sweat will create a beautiful day that I won’t forget.
Surprising moment in Chamonix! I met Annie on the way to this hike and we shared a lift up the mountain. We talked for about 10 min up and decided to link up as she was meeting friends for an extended camping trip. She had never really camped or hiked like this before and I was meeting here on her first steps. It was pretty cool to see someone out in the wild challenging themselves to do some hard and unknown things. Such a short experience but completely warming. Glad I got to share it. We also got this pretty cool photo!
Having Mont-Blanc literally hang over the town with its cool breeze is breathtaking as it is calming.
And then there’s the actual views of the French Alps 😍
And lakes a few thousand feet in the air 🧊❄️
Idk why, but alleyways are the key to my soul and travel desires. I just want to walk all the beautiful roads soaking in the ambiance and energy of foreign worlds. Can’t you feel it too?
