Budapest Musings:
I really wanted to love Budapest. I had a grand idea what it could be in my head. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have any special moments for me. The streets were beautiful and old. The architecture and history were there, but I felt lacking. Sometimes you just have down parts in your travels and this seemed to be the end of my travels headed East.
I did do a lot of wandering, and this city is huge. Even averaging 12-14 miles a day at that point, I still felt exhausted trying to get from one side to the other. But I always feel not walking sell’s myself short. There was just so much to see.
I will say, it was beautiful. Sunsets over the ancient castle across the waterfront. Endless storefronts down marble roads. Hundred year old bath houses. One of the most beautiful churches in all of Europe. There was lots of potential. I’ll have to find someone to show me around next time to make the story complete.
These baths, way to popular, feels likes it’s gonna be overrated, until you lean into the water on a slightly colder day. The bones warm and the water gives you ideas about never leaving. Man, I wish I had one of those in the backyard.
Could you imagine? Feels like what a sultan or king would have parties at.
Delightful architecture everywhere.
Paprika is what Budapest is known for. Who knew?
And as the sun goes down. The views all but come alive.
A perfectly illuminating city. I could see it as charming as Paris in the right format.
This bridge.
That connects to this palace.
That has the cutest train running across it.
And this lady was enjoying herself so much she just took a little nap.
Again with that architecture.
Hands down one of the most stunning churches I’ve ever been in. Then the organ piano started. It felt beyond surreal. It felt like a movie was about to unfold. The epic notes bouncing all around us felt electric and mesmerizing. Now, imagine if you believed in Catholicism. That could be epic.
I missed that human experience in Budapest, but luckily I’ve made European friends traveling and I can’t wait to be shown around proper! See you again soon!
