Bangkok, the untamed jungle

I left Laos on such a high, I should have known it would take a toll. I got to the city and noticed the monstrosity they call Bangkok. People were moving fast in all directions. The constant buzz of engines whizzing by. So much commotion. The quiet and slow of Laos seemed so distant. The people I had come to know but a distant dream overnight.

Khao San madness

Lost in the sauce.

People and things everywhere.

Let’s start from the beginning.

Started with crossing the border on time. Got to the bus station, quick little 4 hour wait in 35 degree swelter.

That food though! The Thai menu is fire.

No people, air conditioning, paved roads?!? This is LUXURY!

Arrived at 530AM. Just in time to try and get scammed by a taxi driver. Made it to the hostel. Payed more to sit by the pool. Decompression and feeling. Didn’t even take a photo. Just sat and baked in the sun. Always good for the soul.

Typical.

When you feel off, always a good time to feel your pulse.

Trying to lose this rice belly.

Woke up feeling refreshed. Walking to my new hostel i saw « free haircut ». I was looking scratchy so I investigated. Not sure why they were free, but donated to the children’s fund box and sat down. At one point there were 3 people cutting my hair! I feel so important now. Thank you world.

This lady was extremely nice and kept fixing over where the others were leaving me off. Feeling like today is gonna be a good day.

Thais just burn their trash in the morning like warming fires from a cold night.

Today is just a free day! Got invited to a One Championship fight match!

but getting there was one of the craziest rides of my life.

Swerving, weaving, inbetween cars. So fast, so many players in this game. Quick brake checks and acceleration. The name of the game is pure confidence. Ride the wind. Trust your driver. When he turns, you turn.

Made it.

What a wonderful day to feel different than the way I was. Kinda magical in a slight sense. I felt the universe was saying, I’m bigger than that, let me show you.

The fights were amazing. I felt refreshed with a new cut and another workout. I saw that maybe I judged Bangkok too quickly. I’d loved Thailand so much just before, let’s see what else this place has to offer. The new (Chinese) year is upon us. Out with the old. In with the new. New beginnings means new endings.
