A Date with Destiny: HCM Rd, Vietnam
The things that happened today were all meant to happen. Most of my life I’ve been thinking of what it must be like to be amongst the giants while clouds hid their faces. Vibrant green grasslands contrast the gloomy sky’s. Sunshine could make for a pretty day, but my dream was always a little bit grey.
In my dream, I see the rain starting to drizzle while I overlook a valley of rice and villas. Nothing is out of place. A few workers here, a few animals there, the majestic giants as they always are. Today they are draped in bearded fog. They’ve been manifesting this mood.
For ages, this has been their normal, but for me, it was my first time. I drove myself here from my old life to encounter the new. I’ve been thinking about this for most my time; dreaming it would come true.
Vietnam, you finally settled a piece of my soul. Seeing you for the first time, is like seeing myself for the first time. How magical it feels to be.
Morning looks a bit different today. Yesterday was sunburn, today is dark. But doesn’t weather make life interesting?

Seriously sunburned. Was not kidding. Paid for some fancy cream too. I put it on twice!

It’s funny to dodge mud on the road, but here it’s just manure. Lots and lots of manure. Just as dangerous.

Yay, more rain. 😅
At one point, I couldn’t see more than 15 feet (3m).
And then, it slowed down to a mist just before the most prized jewel of my time here in Vietnam.
This just had all the feels to it. The opening passage is about this shot. I couldn’t get over how perfect it was.
The thing about my photography, I don’t want to just find things to take photos of. I want my visions to be found in life. I want to see what I’ve seen and have it randomly, yet perfectly placed before me like I had planned it the whole time. To me, that’s magic ✨
And then everything was great. I was vibing. I was high. I was so freaking stoked I took this journey. I was gonna cruise to my hostel and revel in my joy.

Total journey today was estimated around 5.5 hours. It took me around 9. I have no ass bone left. Probably 5.5 hours were just in the rain alone.
And the final 2 were wet, dark, running out of fuel and energy. Did I mention cold? Can we arrive now?!? Anytime now?!?
