Why So Serious?

Most the time I’m stuck in my own world. In this world, I ponder the meanings of life and am completely locked in, like heat-seeking missile type locked in (fire the photon torpedoes Mr. Sulu!). I don’t even notice the rest of world spinning most the time. I’m so concentrated on thinking I look all pissed off and unhappy—but I swear im not! My brain is just calculating and squeezing thoughts out like Dumbledore’s pensive. I’m always just stuck in this book I call my life.

But this last year, starting this trip, I told myself I wanted to break out and smile more! I wanted to be more fun, playful, make jokes, cut up and overall just be less serious.

I’m always serious, that stuff is easy to me. World problems, politics, religion, philosophy, my bread and butter.

Being fun is a little harder.

Well, actually, I think I can be a lot of fun, I just needed to show it.

It’s a dynamic i never felt comfortable with though. I can be hilariously awkward and word vomit like no other after I trust someone, but why not with strangers? Maybe they would enjoy it too!

Finding that release by being goofy can actually relieve stress. Everyone enjoys a good laugh, especially yourself, and being able to laugh at yourself is one of the healthiest things you can do.

As uncomfortable as it is, it feels so much nicer looking back at smiling photos than serious ones. Maybe it won’t always feel so uncomfortable, but even then, maybe that’s just how it’s suppose to feel. Maybe that’s where the magic comes from.
