Turning Vietnamese: Tea Islands, Thanh An, Vietnam
These tea plantations I came to visit were just a spot on the map. One of those I arrive and I know there’s something here, but how to experience it.
There were only a couple people at my Homestay and one was Selma who seemed cool enough to check out the islands with. We booked right during mid morning expecting a couple hours.
After three families and a hundred photos later, this little island turned into an all day affair. We told our boat driver it would be a hour, maybe two, but we started talking and hanging with the locals and then morning became afternoon.
All the locals really think I’m Vietnamese, maybe I am and just don’t know it yet.
Morning views.
Off to this Tea Island thing, how much fun could you possibly have?
Well that’s pretty.
Silly first, cute second 😘
The first set of locals literally fawned over Selma.
Extreme friendliness! One spoke English so we toasted with the Vietnamese tea which locals offer when welcoming new people. 🥰
She was a celebrity!
Spicy, sweet, savory. Salt, pepper 🌶️ , sugar, citrus.
Everyone wanted pictures with her. The next two groups spoke German and I lost her for a bit. Who knew?
Perfect. I can handle this. Wake me when that sun is going down.
Look who had the same idea. What is going on with your hammock though?!
I told you she was popular. This lady probably took 30 photos.
Oh look, me too. They kept saying “handsome” and “beautiful” and “you Vietnam?”
😁😁🥰🥰😅😅
Then they saw my camera and wanted to look like a photographer. Asian tourist are just different lol.
Here we go.
That’s the one.
Taking my signs/ luck to another level. Selma asked, is this yours? I guess it is now.
The girls were taking their photos so I thought I’d add mine.
I feel ridiculous.
But worth a smile.
