Hanoi is Drugs

What is a drug? Something that gets you high right? Something that is exotic feeling and different. You feel all kinds of things you didn’t feel before. You see things you’ve never seen. Well, my case is settled. Hanoi is a drug because it’s all these things.

The streets are alive with people and animals on every inch of every street. Food vendors, street peddlers, grab bikes, tourists, old people, children, bikes, cars, buggy’s, trolleys, trash, boxes, stains, debris, leftovers, shit, leaves, chairs, workshops, you name it. It’s there. Right there, for everyone to see and experience. And it’s not hard to get involved, a quick gesture and your getting served up whatever you like.

I’ve walked the same streets multiple times now and I still have no idea where I’m at or what to expect. Every minute they change. That’s what drugs do right? Keep you entertained.

My eyes feel wide open then.

Started the day with journaling as always. I wrote a page, but it felt I had more to say, so I wrote another two. My pen ran out on the very last word. Courage it was. How fitting. I bought the pen in HCMC and it ran out in Hanoi. Something poetic about that.
