Step II: The Traveler

You may have noticed, but I haven’t been around. Not Tennessee, or even Hawaii. My scenery has changed, constantly. I’ve been searching for something. That something I couldn’t find at home, I couldn’t even find it at my new home. I’ve always had this feeling that whatever I needed to discover, to learn about myself would be found on the open road. Only by facing the unknown would I realize my truths, desires, and destiny.

Traveling is freeing in ways we can’t imagine. I, an introverted and shy individual by nature, find that being me on the road just doesn’t cut it. Experiencing new and profound relationships and ideas means being vulnerable to everything and everyone. Being uncomfortable or embarrassed are promoted, even encouraged when traveling. Yet, I found myself scared to be this person. I hesitated to act. I was scared of my image, of my ego, of breaking my fragile world, but why? Why shoulder so much pain and endure so much stress?

Because this one life we live is only ours for a precious time.

I don’t want to spend it wondering what it could have felt like.

To truly participate, I must be someone strong, someone passionate, someone willing to sacrifice. Honestly, it’s a leap of faith for me. So much of life is. Just to believe in oneself can mean the difference between hovering and soaring. Letting go of the edge to become something new, to evolve, is worth leaving the old behind. Free falling some call it.

Everything about this scenario teaches me that. Where Keegan Roams is my mantra. It’s my character for this stage of my life, and when need be, my superhero. It’s my drive, my focus. I want to be a citizen of the world, not just of my world.

So, we have evolution; A freeing of the mind. A release from the old to usher in the new. We need coordination from all our parts: the head, heart, and body must work in unison. The stage is set, the audience is seated, the lights have come up, and the curtains are ready to be pulled. There’s nothing more to do. Just take the stage and give the show of a lifetime. This is your moment, your life, this is your great story.

Shine on you Crazy Diamond. Shine on.
