Slow boat to Who Knows Where: Pak Beng, Laos

All the kings horses.

I wouldn’t of guessed it, by my whole trip in Laos boiled down to this boat ride. From the second I booked it til the second I left Laos, this boat took me there. If your confused, then look at the frame with all the passengers. Believe it or not, I would meet these people over and over again over the weeks. Many I became friends with and everyone else I was still friendly. But best part, is most people didn’t know each other yet in this photo. Unsuspecting, all these peoples lives would be intertwined over the coming days. Laos was hands down the most unpredictable travel I’ve had yet, and that just made it all that much more addicting.

So many friends have no idea yet.

This is over the course of our ride from Huay Xai to Pak Beng to Luang Prabang.

The Brits, brought us many laughs.

The scenery was pristine.

Thanks Pheebs 😘

Fan girls.

They’re a little cray. I did decide to buy a bracelet and went to grab a quick little 10k Kip from my stack and the girl quickly yelled, “no! 50k!” Sheesh! Hard bargain.

Not bad.

One of the best sausages I’ve ever had.

Locals live a different life.

They literally just drove up and hopped on. We stopped all the time to drop off and pick up locals all over. On the second day, we picked up around 30 villagers and they just kinda sat everywhere. Very inconvenient for trying to enjoy travel, which, if you lived here, is just the way of life.

Although, I heard the second boat was practically empty. Thanks John. Haha.

John forementioned.

Me and John decided after losing our foot room to switch the locals for their seats. 💺 went from padded to the open air, but it was worth it.

Post trip shenanigans.

Caught in the moment. Thanks..Dick? John?
