Falling for Kyoto: Kyoto, Japan

Ive got some friends in Japan right now and they’re reminding me how cooooooool it is. Technically it’s winter there, and some Cherry blossoms have already started, but I was there during Fall and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I had actually planned most of my time in Japan around fall leaves. When I arrived in Tokyo, it was still 30-32C, around 86-90F. I was thinking somehow the world had completely messed with me. It was late October and barely a leaf had changed from green.

Luckily, Kyoto had the right setting. The end of my section there was a month later and it had just started to become brisk outside. Most of the red leaves of Kyoto hadn’t truly arrived, but I found just enough small pieces of what I was looking for. Small they were, still they filled my heart with that magical feeling. That feeling that only Japanese land and culture seem to manifest. Some romantic idea in my head had come alive.

Cherry blossoms might be cool, but I think no matter what, Fall will have that power over me. Here is a little taste of me chasing leaves and pagodas all over Kyoto. This should tide me over until next time.

I cannot wait until there is a next time.

Having limited time in Kyoto, I had to pick my spots wisely. I was guessing from the tree line what would have the best colors. I chose Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple because of its scenery, location, and seriously unbelievable setting. Most these shots are from this place.

Every single monk had a different face and feeling. The moss added whole different personalities as well.

Incroyable.

Simple pleasure.

Give me that view any day.

Even the overpass and fence are playing their parts.

Stole this shot.

This isn’t full bloom red, but man, it still had its moments.

This matcha ice cream looks so tasty, but who like bitter ice cream? I don’t get it.

Sheesh.

This sunset hour 👌🏼

7 am and flooded already. Still pretty.

Life must could be so peaceful here. It’s what I want in a forever home. More to discover next time I come.
