In the middle of Euro section I wanted history and Alps so mixed the two with a stop in Munich into Austria. Stopped by Neuschwanstein and Hitler’s Eagles Nest to discover both. I was greatly impressed with the views. All things Alps makes my heart flutter and mind ease. The views are magnificent. I also mixed in some frames of Munich on a roll I accidentally popped open to check for a jam. Made for some interesting contrast.
Schloss Neuschwanstein was truly impressive for its era with such divine beauty inside from the throne room where only he worshipped. In fact, the whole place was built as a fairytale dream getaway for the king who hosted extravagant parties for himself. He was basically running away.
On the other hand, the Eagles nest was built by the generals of the Nazis to impress Hitler for his 50th birthday. Hitler was scared of heights and never even stayed a night. The place is powerfully placed, but the building has but a small eating hall, kitchen, and single bedroom. Nothing magnificent except its position. What a strange dynamic of the two.
I didn’t take a film photo of the Eagles Nest because honestly, it was a restaurant with a bunch of blue and white umbrellas out. Nothing to photograph
What an unbelievable setting. I heard something about it, then googled it and my jaw dropped.
View from Hitler’s Eagles Nest.
Linderhof. A hunting lodge with a room of mirrors so amazing it isn’t allowed to be shot. Probably just as good, if at least as extravagant as La galarie des Glaces in Versailles. To give you an idea.
Some Munich moments to give some contrast.
My film roll seemed stuck or something, so I popped open the roll to see if I could discover anything. It gave these crazy light splashes across the film. I kinda like it.
Hohenschwangau Castle next to a fairytale lake. This place is unreal. Also, this is the view from Neuschwanstein. So ridiculous.
